CELTIC manager Tony Mowbray insists Scott Brown will remain sidelined until specialists agree the diagnosis on his ongoing ankle complaint. The Scotland midfielder has struggled for fitness since undergoing ankle surgery in the summer and a trip to see a specialist in London in October failed to solve the problem. Brown has been left out completely since the Europa League game against Hamburg in Germany a month ago and will stay out while a fresh search for a cure continues.

Front men Paul Quinn and Dennis Wyness have been out on loan over the last couple of months, Saints manager Gus MacPherson gave us an update on how things are progressing. He said, "We have been monitoring Paul Quinn and Dennis Wyness during their loan terms with Queen's Park and Queen of the South respectively. "Paul's loan has been extended by a month which means he will hopefully continue to get regular playing time under his belt which is very important for his progress."  

Rangers could return to top of the SPL table on Saturday with success over Kilmarnock at Ibrox. Gers boss Walter Smith could rest Madjid Bougherra after he helped Algeria qualify for the World Cup finals in midweek. Smith has decided to give him the weekend off so that he is fresh and ready for their crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Stuttgart next week.  

Killie took on an unbeaten Celtic side on Saturday at Barrowfield on Saturday.Despite the heavy overnight rain the pitch was in excellent condition and Celtic started the game passing crisply on a very fast surface. CELTIC are off to Tannadice on Sunday and Dundee United will not have been affected by any talk of Craig Levein being linked with the Scotland job whatsoever. United have been a bit of a bogey team for Celtic, and Rangers too for that matter, the past few seasons and it will be a tough game, all the more so because you would really expect Gers to beat Kilmarnock tomorrow meaning that Tony Mowbray's men will go to Tayside under a wee bit of pressure. Kirk Broadfoot has admitted his injury nightmare had him worried he may never play again at one stage during his eight months out. The Rangers defender has been plagued by a persistent foot injury but he is finally progressing well in his recovery and is expected to feature for the SPL giants before the turn of the year. The 25-year-old Scotland international admitted he has endured a tough time when out and revealed there were times he thought he'd never fully recover.

Hibernian midfielder John Rankin says he is hopeful that the international break won't have killed the momentum Hibs had. While a weekend without a game has given the likes of Merouane Zemmama, Liam Miller and Kevin McBride a chance to get fit for Saturday's trip to St Mirren, Rankin is fearful it may have killed the head of steam the Edinburgh-based club had. CELTIC could be without five first-team regulars for Sunday's SPL clash with Dundee United with Scott Brown still among the list of absentees. Manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed Brown, Artur Boruc and Shaun Maloney have "no chance" of being fit for the trip to Tannadice. Club captain Stephen McManus is suspended following his red card in last month's Co-operative Insurance Cup quarter-final defeat to Hearts.
